NBC News journalist Mariana Atencio has traveled the world from Haiti to Hong Kong. In her TEDx talk, Mariana tells us how the people she's met along the way and her own immigrant experience have taught her that the only thing we all have in common is being human. Get ready to 'get human' and embrace what makes you different! Take a stand to defend your race: the human race!

Mariana Atencio is a Peabody Award-winning journalist, currently a national correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. The Huffington Post called her ‘our Latina Christiane Amanpour’ and Jorge Ramos wrote: ‘Mariana is the next-gen voice for Latinos breaking all barriers.’ Mariana is known for combining in-studio work and high profile interviews like Pope Francis, with tenacious field reporting all over the world, covering youth-led protests in places like Ferguson, Mexico, Haiti and Hong Kong.

a really warming and moving talk. the quote „While I may disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it“ is not from Voltaire but from Evelyn Beatrice Hall who wrote a biography of Voltaire and was trying to illustrate Voltaire’s position.

  15. Francois Michael sagt:

tunde Csipor it doesn’t invalidate anything she said, she’s making a difference where she can. You win some battles and you lose some but the point is, she’s trying and making an impact somewhere. Be more positive! 🙂

  20. Lei's Lifestyle sagt:

tunde Csipor just do it dude. I would like to see you soon

  21. tunde Csipor sagt:

I didn’t judge her life. When she got on the stage and spoke publicly, the content of her speech was submitted to criticism, and that’s what I did.She has all the rights in this world to speak her mind, as I also have the right not to agree or to dislike her ideas. The premise of her speech was an excellent one but she failed to substantiate it.

  22. Roberto Alejandro Correa Soto sagt:

In my opinion, what you say makes total sense. But you have to take into account that everybody in this world have their reasons to do what they do, so neither you nor I nor anybody have the right to judge her life based on what we only saw in this 17 minute video.

  23. tunde Csipor sagt:

What I found interesting was that she didn’t stay in her country to fight for freedom of speech…
Next time my house gets dirty..I will go to my neighbours and lecture them about how to keep their place clean….
