Mithila Palkar is a popular singer of Hindi and regional languages and an actor. In fact, she is more of a singer than an actor. She hails from Mumbai and born and brought in this city of dreams. Having her schooling and college from Mumbai, she went on to employ the social media cum video uploading site – YouTube. She did her college from MMK College and since her school and college days she was active in cultural activities particularly singing. So, when completed her college, she knew what to do and thus with some struggle, she was able to make her video song album.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at

And maybe that’s what makes the difference? She said something all of us knew, doesn’t that make it so relatable? She was there to talk about her story, her struggle and that’s it. Sometimes we need to hear something we already know from someone else. 🙂

  6. Adi AAA but then u should also have dp of a Marathi actor y r.madhavan who belongs to Tamil

  7. Mohit Niche means a sector, area, own path, place.
Literal meaning – Create Your own path in any particular sector you good at.

  8. Budget Media Waley sagt:

Mohit Bhatt She means create your own world of something that you do the best. Let your expertise in something be so good that nobody can come close to you in terms of quality. Create your own niche, monopolize your business…

  9. Mohit Bhatt sagt:

Can you explain what does Carve your own niche mean ?

I understood what she meant by that line of carving her own path… but with respect to the word niche I didn’t.

  17. Rebecca John: I am happy that you do agree…

  18. umesh kaushik sagt:

Varsha Shah agree all are not good. However there is a significant difference in the ratio.

  19. Varsha Shah sagt:

umesh kaushik then you should have added ‚Some‘ or ‚Many‘ before international speakers too. I have given a talk and I have seen many. not all International speakers are good either.

  20. umesh kaushik sagt:

Varsha Shah yes everybody has right to differ. however, I said many of Indian speakers; not all. there is a difference in both the clauses.

  21. Varsha Shah sagt:

Indian speakers are awesome too. just find the ones you resonate with.

  22. Varsha Shah sagt:

    umesh kaushik Don’t agree !

  23. Samiksha Mohokar sagt:

  24. Rebecca John sagt:

    Suhail M I completely agree

  25. Pranav HP sagt:

She also said that not everyone’s path is the same. Everyone’s struggle is different and just because someone is cute doesn’t mean he/she doesn’t need to work hard. You have to have faith in your hustle.

  26. Parvenu B sagt:

Thank God or vacuum for giving this unsolicited advice through J88 S. After your advice, I’ve finally lost my virginity. Life fucks me now.

  27. Shiza Ahmed sagt:

Vidhi Rathore I don’t get how she is an inspiration at all? She has a few videos running on YouTube…that isn’t really an accomplishment that people aspire to. Her speech was also very unimpressive since most people have had such experiences and will narrate such stories. Her examples are most of the time irrelevant and her speech is consistently redundant. She is going off track and jumping from one random example to another. Inspiration can come from anyone at any age provided they have achieved something spectacular and, indeed, inspiring. „Chilling“ while playing with „cups“ and singing a song and being flattered for the „attention“ it got is hardly the kind of inspiration our youth needs. It’s absurd how this changed her life! We need to aspire to incredible people and not just „famous“ people feeding off fickle fame from a YouTube video.

  28. Parvenu B You need to get a life

  29. Parvenu B sagt:

    FYI, you need sensitivity.

  30. You need glasses.

  31. Piyush Arora sagt:

It’s a TEDx talk mate. From what I’ve come to understand, the „x“ means that anyone can organise a Ted talk as long as adheres to a prescribed set of norms set by the original TED Talks. If you need quality, you should rather look at TED Talks, without the „x“.

  32. Aneesh Divakaran sagt:

she was very articulate flamboyant and sensible……losers who want to lick celebrity boots can whine….she did well ….and she’s a achiever in her own right

  33. Mandhan Academy sagt:

That Guy…… True bro…. Ted is fucked up… Now

  34. Rahul Gavade sagt:

Achal Joshi appreciate this kind of criticism bro. Not the one where you just criticize it for no reason. That was my point. Thanks for your explanation.

  35. Achal Joshi sagt:

I don’t see how you confused this Ted talk about not having plan with acting. This whole Ted is about not having a plan and that is what jumping in the wells is. Get it brother? I have no aspirations to be like her, there are many great men out there whom I look upto. So chill buddy no one’s gotta problem with what she does to make a living for that matter I would have no problem if a prostitue would be giving a Ted talk, yes you heard that I would take my lessons from anyone literally anyone but while doing that I would like to keep my bullshit detector on. It may have worked out for her but it’s not necessary that it works out for everyone. Always take your lessons from anyone but remember to keep that bullshit filter on.

  36. Rahul Gavade sagt:

Achal Joshi ok, so you mean to say what she is doing is stupid? or do you compare acting skills akin to jumping in the well..?
If you don’t like something, state as to why you don’t like it. There is no hard and fast rule that says you must like everything. But when you don’t like something and have no constructive criticism of what has gone wrong or how it can be improved, why would you try to troll the person? Have you acted like her before?? Simple fact is that she is better at it than you and you may not like her success and hence come up with things like this… right?

  37. Achal Joshi sagt:

You mean if someone’s encouraging others to take a plunge in the well no one should stop him unless the rest of them have had an experience of drowning down in the well. What’s stupid is stupid. No point in not calling something stupid not stupid.

  38. Anurag Sharma they were human and she is fucking cute girl she only need to do a smile to convince a person

  39. Lorri Smith ok then can you make it to ted talks

  40. Nikita Yardi sagt:

    satyajit shinde
If this isn’t sarcastic, I really don’t think you’ve heard enough „motivational speeches“.

  41. jphande77 sagt:

Megha Singhania why are you poking ur nose everywhere. first understand the purpose of TED talks. you may be the blind fan of this speaker.. lol.

  42. KAUSTUBH KULKARNI sagt:

Ushma Asher , get a break! think twice. why do you always want the gandhis, obamas, shekspears , big guns, talking ? I agree, they inspire us. but, give a chance to someone from amongst us. why not? the world is full of people like us. Now, does it make any sense, whether you call them unsuccessful, middle class, backwards or xyz?

  43. because it was stupid

  44. jojotanify sagt:

    M Kanak i was joking

  45. jojotanify Its not dhruv….she told her friend was from Baroda….dhruv is from mumbai itself….

  46. it’s TEDx and yeah you can make it to TEDx too.

  47. Shristi Saha sagt:

    Rahul Gavade exactly

  48. Rahul Gavade sagt:

Why so much negativity in the comments here. Why can’t people appreciate it when someone is doing good. Critics, please earn a place for yourself on TEDx before criticizing her.
Criticizing is good when it is constructive.

  49. hitesh sonawane sagt:

Go away haters… she’s really good at what she does.

  54. Som Bharatiya Dash sagt:

Monish Revuri dude…y do u have to be extra sweet !?
:p from the mike feed backs its apparent…and when there is a feedback … people in audience will make some noise…Its very common.
It is the duty rather skill of the orator that comes to help. I am sure Mithila would have learnt a lot too.
Give your best…if you have done it…dnt appologise.

  55. Monish Revuri sagt:

Samantha Enríquez Sorry for the disturbances mam !! I was one of the audience sitting over there . Unfortunately we had few technical glimpses on that day. This caused those disturbances .

  56. hashim ibra sagt:

  59. Preety Kaur sagt:

    Beautiful girl. . At such a tender age U r already a winner. . U ll go a long way dear. . Graceful. .

  60. Ushma Asher sagt:

This girl is amazing and she’s very talented but honestly, I used to love TEDx cuz they always had the most unique speakers and they always said something out of the blue. What did Mithila say that was so out of the blue…or something that we didn’t know?

Sorry I expect better from TED

  61. Abhishek Bapat sagt:

I miss the old days when TedX had quality talkers.

  62. Anurag Sharma sagt:

It’s definitely not ok not to hav a plan. Successful people like Elon Musk, Bill gates, Steve jobs always say you should hav a plan. This girl is saying you don’t need to hav a plan and contradicting herself by saying do what you love. To do what you love you need a plan. Embrace randomness?????
Don’t embrace randomness. There is giga bytes of data at the door of your brain. Take the data dat you need and filter the data dat you don’t need. Then you will lead a happy and successful life.

  63. satyajit shinde sagt:

mithilaa I heard many motivational speech but Riksha wala example is the best

  64. Fucking anybody is making to Ted talk

  65. Mahesh Patil sagt:

Adi AAA Offcourse it’s your choice brother but „Go Marathi“ sounds negative to me .. I got 2nd thought „Tu Marathi, Mi Marathi“ Here again require two Marathi people (Nop, let’s cross our typical restrictions)..So so.. If we want to showcase ourself beyond bondries and it’s about pride of Marathi .. Wt phrase will suite and express better…
Common Adi.. think more .. I am filtering so many options in my mind but none of them sound best.
    .
    .
    ha ha ha

  66. I dont think this girl has achieved so much that she can really speak about success and acting. She has miles to go before even being noticed in the acting world…

  67. at mid clearly seeing the shaking of her while speaking, may be because she becomes emotional but she managed it … break stereotypes -GO Marathi-Mi Marathi

  68. Ravi Kandpal sagt:

It’s ok not to plan anything if you are cute :/

  69. A Man Has No Name sagt:

Carve ur own niche. Learn to embrace the randomness. Whoa ! Thank u for the dose of motivation! 🙂

  70. Samantha Enríquez sagt:

I can hear voices in the background of the video and it’s distracting. I find it so rude when there is a speaker and people in the audience don’t know how to shut up.

  71. Pritam Thakur sagt:

Who is the guy who had a crush on Amisha Patel?

  72. riaz ahmed sagt:

Loved it….i always say this to people who ask me what is my future plans ….“lets see where life takes me“…..
