How To Skip the Small Talk and Connect With Anyone | Kalina Silverman | TEDxWestminsterCollege

Legendary Entrepreneurs Show You How to Start, Launch & Grow a Digital Business… Click here!

Kalina Silverman wanted to see what could happen if she approached strangers and skipped the small talk to have more meaningful conversations with them instead. She made a video documenting the experience. The stories she heard and the connections she made proved that there's power in taking the time to stop and ask people to reflect on the questions that truly matter in life.

Since then, she has continued to work on expanding Big Talk into a movement that inspires and enables people to connect with one another on a deeper level.

A lot of people are missing the point. She didn’t tell to initiate the conversation by asking „What u wan to do before you die?“ What she meant is that after small talk, you can start big talk, not just continuing with talking about irrelevant stuff.

Okay so as a late teen, and like most teens, we wanna get inna relationship or have a fun night or two with someone else. So seeing the title of this video I thought I could get some tips to archive my simple goals. Now I don’t think I’ll be wooing anyone with the question “ what would you do if you were gonna die tommorow “ . That’s just not attractive , that’s something you ask when you wanna interview someone and only have 5 mins before that person goes into a meeting.

Still a good video , but I ain’t using that question to get with someone till I’m 80 and I could die tommorow

The excessive self promotion really causes me to loose attention through out the narrative.

Were there people in the experiment that said no? What do you do when they don’t want to skip small talk… or perhaps don’t want to talk at all?

I can not believe the number of un-evolved trolls commenting here. This young lady has obviously accomplished more at her young age of 21 than all the negative people commenting here. This is an amazing video, from a young lady who has demonstrated incredible courage, vulnerability and vision. BIG TALK to Silicon Valley…have any of you done that? At 21, 31, 41, 51? Get an f***ing clue people. We need to celebrate her vision, her strategy and her openness. Do any of you have EVOLVED answers to her questions? Or is it „pass me the Cheetos and beer?“ Get an f***ing clue….
